ALTON'S rail service was in the spotlight at Alton Town Council's Electors' Meeting last Wednesday with the public annoyed at the slow off-peak service, lack of toilets on trains, a proposed new bridge, and the colour of the station decor.
Disappointed due to the failure of a South West Trains representative to turn up, the task of addressing the meeting fell at short notice to Alton Line Users' Association chairman Chris Campbell who broached the sensitive issues of parking, the station and the service itself, before being called upon to answer questions.
