HASLEMERE and the surrounding area spent much of the week mopping up after the devastating gales and rain of Sunday night and preparing themselves for more heavy rain towards the end of the week.
Many roads were made impassable by flooding or fallen trees and most schools closed their doors because of power cuts or staff unable to get through.
