THERE will be a games afternoon at St Mark’s Church, Alma Lane, Hale on Thursday, May 16, to raise money for the charity Christian Aid.

The day will begin with homemade soup and crusty bread at 12.30pm, followed by an afternoon of board games, table tennis and pool, and ending with Bingo and a cream tea.

There will also be a bring-and-buy sale, so anyone attending is welcome to bring items to sell.

The afternoon is being organized by Carolyn Weston, Christian Aid co-ordinator for the Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale, and takes place during Christian Aid week which runs from May 12 to 18.

Carolyn said: “Please come and support us and help raise money for Christian Aid.

"This year the focus is on helping women in Sierra Leone which is the world’s most dangerous place to become a mother - every day 10 women die from giving birth.

"Christian Aid is helping support maternity healthcare in the country to reduce the numbers of women dying in childbirth.”

During the week there will be collections and other events around Farnham to raise money for Christian Aid.
