A PUB quiz team has raised more than £17,000 to help fund pioneering stem cell treatment and improve the quality of life of friend and mum-of-two Kath Lee.

Kath, 47, suffers from secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (MS), resulting in severe loss of mobility, chronic muscular pain and other debilitating symptoms.

Stem cell treatment should greatly enhance her quality of life. Though not a cure for MS, Kath’s own stem cells will be used to reduce the effects of lesions on her brain and spine, which should greatly improve mobility and lengthen her life, getting her out of a wheelchair and back walking with a stick. All NHS treatment options have been exhausted.

Using the slogan ‘Join the Fun, Join the Fight’, the Kath’s Campaign team – made up of fellow regulars from The Wyvern pub in Church Crookham – has organised several successful fundraising events, with many more to come over the next few months.

Their next event is a Girls & Guys Gaming party tomorrow at OverWorld E-Sports Gaming Arena in Farnborough.

The night, organised in collaboration with Dizzy’s Games Nights, will feature Rocket League and retro gaming favourites such as PacMac, Sonic and Space Invaders.

Kath said: “Our philosophy is to have fun and I am amazed at the support from friends, local businesses and total strangers. It is very humbling.

“It will be great to do the simple, everyday things in life, such as make a cup of tea without falling over, as well as feel like a mum and wife again.”

Further details and tickets for the Girls & Guys Gaming night are available online at www.party-ace.com.

Future campaign events being planned include a pop concert, escape room challenge, hog roast and fashion show.
