A garden design company is set to open a new studio in Farnham, taking over a Downing Street shop which has been empty since last year.

Gardenscapes is moving into 23 Downing Street, the former home of Myfroyoland, as the company expands beyond its original base in Dorking.

Myfroyoland, a frozen yoghurt shop, closed in September 2025 after reporting a sharp fall in footfall during the closure of Downing Street as part of the town’s infrastructure programme.

Gardenscapes has been in business for more than 27 years and has an award-winning showroom in Dorking. The new Farnham premises will be used as a design studio for customers considering garden and landscaping projects.

The company works on gardens of varying sizes across Surrey and the surrounding area, with projects ranging from smaller residential spaces to larger landscaping schemes.

Founder Neal Markwick said: "Every garden is unique because every homeowner uses their space differently. Our role is to understand what matters most to each client and create a garden that feels as though it has always belonged there."

As well as garden design and landscaping, Gardenscapes offers outdoor kitchens, swimming pools, living walls and green roofs.

The company says its designers work with customers to establish how they want to use their outdoor space, while also taking into account the architecture of their home and the surrounding landscape.

Customers are provided with 2D plans and 3D visualisations showing how their proposed garden could look before construction begins, with Gardenscapes managing projects from the initial design through to completion.

The move into Farnham marks the company's first expansion outside Dorking and brings another business to Downing Street following the closure of Myfroyoland last autumn.

Once the studio opens, customers will be able to visit the premises to discuss potential projects and see examples of the company's previous work.
