THE Farnham fundraising group for Marie Curie have raised £6,589 for the charity’s Great Daffodil Appeal thanks to the generosity of people in the Farnham area.

The funds were raised through a combination of collections in the street, and at branches of Sainsbury’s, as well as the boxes of daffodils distributed around local businesses, including retailers, banks, doctors’ surgeries, pubs and clubs.

Fundraising group chairman Linda Lawrence said: “We are so grateful for all the support we have received from local people. It is a real team effort, we rely on our fantastic volunteers who help with collections, the local businesses who are kind enough to take our daffodil boxes, and of course everyone who donates money during the appeal.

“Our aim is to make sure there will always be a Marie Curie nurse available when someone in our area needs their help. Every £20 raised pays for a precious hour of nursing time, so this money makes a real difference to people facing the most difficult times of their lives.”

The group will be out and about in Farnham attending events throughout the summer.
