A NEW future has been secured for Alton's "finest Georgian house" thanks to the the Alton Building Preservation Trust.

Trust chairman Nick Carey-Thomas said that for three years Westbrooke House in the High Street has been empty and deteriorating following the departure of its most recent long-term incumbents, accountants Wettone Matthews.

"The deterioration has been so extensive that East Hampshire District Council has placed this Listed Grade II building on the local register of buildings considered to be at risk," said Mr Carey-Thomas.
