A GENEROUS cheque for £1,565 has been received by The Woodlarks Centre after a successful concert by 1960s revival group ‘Out of the Shadows’.

The rousing evening was held at the Vineyard Church, and featured hits from The Shadows, Cliff Richard, Roy Orbison and The Beatles, among other nostalgic tunes.

Guests were treated to cold and hot drinks, and light refreshments provided by The Woodlarks Centre.

“It was brilliant,” said Ben Madombwe, Woodlarks’ fundraiser. “Everyone so enjoyed the evening of nostalgia.

“We are so grateful to ‘Out of the Shadows’ and everyone who supported the evening.”

Mr Madombwe deemed the event a huge success, adding: “All we heard from people was how much they loved the music and our fun-evening.”

Out of the Shadows recently visited the centre to hand over the cheque, and the funds raised will help to broaden the programme of activities available for residents.

The centre also recently hosted a sunny barbecue. The event celebrated and thanked Woodlarks’ hard working volunteers, especially those who helped at its June summer fete.

Woodlarks is currently raising funds for several projects, including to provide a new bus and a LiteGait trainer to improve the physiotherapy department. Woodlarks is always looking for more volunteers. If interested call Ben, Jules or Lynda on 01252 714041.
