FOR two hours the people for whom the Bordon-Liphook rail-link bus is a lifeline, fought to save it from being axed.

After pleading at a public meeting with representatives from South West Trains and Stagecoach, they were told it had all been in vain because the service had been decommissioned and would finish, as planned, next Sunday, May 17.
