PHYLLIS Tuckwell Hospice supporters caught the sun as well as the fish when Frimley Pit Fisheries raised £8,630 for the charity in July.

Thirty fishermen camped at the site for two nights, fishing for common and mirror carp in the day and socialising in the evenings.

Andre Wintersgill, a Michelin-star chef and friend of Lorraine and Mark, provided a feast for the campers, cooking up a beef casserole on the first night and a barbecue on the second.

Their families joined in for the barbecue, boosting the number of those present to more than 100.

Around 2,000 raffle tickets were sold, with more than 70 prizes on offer donated by fishery members and businesses including a holiday in France.

“Thank you to everyone who supported the event,” said co-owner of Frimley Pit Fisheries, Lorraine Fisher.

“In particular Les Bowers, who gave up his time to source some wonderful prizes for the raffle, and to all the companies who so generously donated prizes.

“Also to Rick Harrison and Nigel Sharp who helped to organise the weekend, and to Andre Wintersgill for providing such a wonderful feast. A big thank you to everyone – even the weather!”

Leanne Tembo, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell said: “We would like to thank Lorraine and Mark for the huge amount of work which they put into organising this event.

“This is an amazing amount of money and we really do appreciate their efforts to make the event the huge success it was.”
