A HOGFEST was held at The Herald last Monday to celebrate the latest addition to the town’s charity arts project to raise money for the mayor’s charities.
Fresh on the hooves of the hugely successful Surrey Hills Cow Parade, the ‘Haslemere Hogs’ project is an invitation to organisations and individuals to sponsor and customise 60 life-sized fibreglass pigs, employing the creative talents of local artists and schools.
The project will culminate in a grand parade of pigs displayed throughout the area for three months from next April, after which they will be sold to the highest bidders with the proceeds going to town mayor Sahran Abeysundara’s charities: Action Medical Research for Children, Positive Action, The Kaleidoscope Trust and Haslemere Penny Ha’Penny Trust.
The Herald is sponsoring a hog and enjoyed hamming with fellow sponsors at the office party to welcome the new arrival.
“The Haslemere Herald is happy to support this worthwhile project and wishes everyone every success,” Tindle News executive director Wendy Craig said. “The Herald is sponsoring its very own pig and we are all very excited to see the final result.
“We would also like to thank Brian Howard, who is masterminding the enterprise in order to raise the profile of the town.”
