THIS summer holidays’ production from Liphook Theatre Club was Roald Dahl’s humorous version of Goldilocks and The Three Bears, adapted as a fun script with delightful, toe-tapping songs.
It wasn’t the sweet and cosy version of the traditional tale but one featuring a cheeky, thieving Goldilocks, brazenly appearing to steal from under the snouts of three innocent bears.
Was she innocent or guilty? The courtroom was on tenterhooks but finally returned a final decision of “innocent” and Goldilocks skipped free, despite her
significant crimes.
Thankfully, all ended happily with a fabulous finale song and everyone enjoying homemade flapjacks made by the children.
This was the second summer school organised by the theatreclub. It was launched last year for children aged five to 11 by Vanessa Breach, in association with the Methodist Amateur Dramatics (MAD) Company.
Vanessa said: “We run a friendly, inclusive group where the children can experience all elements of stage craft, have lots of fun and, above all, gain the confidence to really enjoy performing.
“Our theatre club is full of activities, games and laughter, culminating in a production to parents and friends on the last day.
“In addition to our summer school we also run an after-school club on Mondays during term time, and from September we will be starting work on a Christmas spectacular.”
