RUMOURS that Hindhead Golf Club plans to sell-off part of its course for a residential development has caused concern.

Two action groups have been formed to oppose any such move, which members say would be "disastrous" for the area.

Club officials declined to comment but draft designs for a redesign of the second hole have already been drawn up by a firm of architects and members were informed of the proposal at a recent open forum meeting.

A club sub-committee has agreed the design should be improved and presented as part of the proposal at the annual meeting in January.
