BELLS Piece Leonard Cheshire Disability service in Hale Road, Farnham, has received a cheque for more than £1,000 from The Plume of Feathers Golfing Society.

The Plume of Feathers Golfing Society was established in 1986 and its objective is to promote the enjoyment of its members by organising golf meetings and social events throughout the year.

It has a mixed membership of 60 golfers drawn from local clubs including Blackmoor, Oak Park, Farnham, Worldham, Alresford, North Hants and Blacknest.

While primarily focused on golf it also raises money for charity. A variety of ways are used, from fines for humorous misdemeanours during its many events to captain’s day fundraising with fun competitions for the members.

David Stubbs, last year’s Plume of Feathers’ captain, thanked his fellow members for their support in raising £1,048 for Bells Piece.

The money will be used to provide a pizza oven in the garden of the Leonard Cheshire service in Hale Road, and will be a great addition for all parts of the service including the house, community clients as well as the day service. It will also be used at fetes and events.

In presenting the cheque to Davina Scott, Bells Piece activities and life skills centre team leader, and Bells Piece manager Robert Hambrook with Tricia Paul, this year’s Plume of Feathers captain, David said: “Bells Piece is a great local charity and one well worthy of support. I look forward to tasting one of the first pizzas!”
