GOLFERS were met with a beautifully sunny day as they gathered for bacon rolls on Tuesday, October 10, at Phyllis Tuckwell’s annual golf day, which was once again held at Hankley Common’s stunning golf club.
The day, which has been held annually at Hankley Common for over 20 years now, raised over £10,000.
A 9.30am ‘shotgun’ start commenced play for the 24 teams, who enjoyed a competitive round of golf before heading into the clubhouse for a two-course carvery lunch, and an auction and raffle.
A prize-giving followed, which rewarded the first, second and third teams, as well as confirming the winners of the nearest the pin and longest drive competitions.
The winning team were Scott Browning, Paul Sims, John Fitzgerald, Nigel Guillaume from Bluebird Care, who finished with a score of 129.
Gemma Craig, events fundraising manager at Phyllis Tuckwell, was delighted by the success of the event.
“We would like to thank Hankley Golf Club, whom we are very grateful to for their continued support, the Inner Wheel of Farnham for running a tombola on the day which raised £633, and the Rotary Club of Farnham for once again supporting the event, as well as all the teams who took part in this fantastic day,” she said.
“The money raised by events such as this is vital in supporting the services we provide for those who are living with a terminal illness. £10,000 could pay for over three months’ of sessions from a physiotherapist, helping to improve patients’ quality of life and enable them to remain as independent as possible throughout their illness.”
