ORGANISERS of this year’s Charity Golf Day have hailed it a “roaring success”, after they smashed their fundraising target.

Joe Castles and Martin Hayes, who ran their first event last year, aimed to raise between £2,000 and £2,500 for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care. But, the pair managed to raise over double their original target, raising a total of £5,522.60.

As well as taking part in the golf competition, participants were able to join in with an auction, which included items such as an Everton 2018 signed football shirt and a boxing glove signed by David Haye.

Joe and Martin would like to give special thanks to Waterfords Estate Agents, John Goodridge Menswear, Fengate Fencing and Servo Group, all of which were key sponsors of the golf day.

Peter Foxton, director of income generation at the hospice, said: “We would like to thank Joe Castles and Martin Hayes, and everyone who took part in the charity golf day at Oak Park Golf Club.

“We know how much effort goes into organising and promoting events like this, and we really appreciate all of the hard work and commitment which Joe and Martin have put into arranging this golf day.

“The money raised will go directly towards helping us provide our vital care to those who really need our help.”
