HALE Carnival committee hopes to donate as much as £7,000 to myriad good causes after hailing another "spectacular turnout" at last Saturday's event. The afternoon was opened by Farnham town crier Jonathan Jones and Eagle Radio breakfast show DJ Peter Gordon. Revellers were treated to early tunes from John Doze while Farnham Rock Choir made its debut appearance in Hale this year. The dog show, sponsored by Armadillo Pets, saw some 80 entries and Cathcart and Winn Vets judged each class as crowds were wowed by a selection of pedigree dogs, waggy tails and special tricks. Children from Folly Hill School braved the rain and put on a fine display of Maypole dancing while the carnival committee thanked Farnham Toy Library for helping provide an area of children's entertainment including soft play, circus skills, roller coaster and a ball pit. More than 40 stalls offered a varied selection of goodies, while the Aldershot and Farnham Camera club captured magic moments of the day for posterity. And harmony group Violet raised everyone's spirits on the main stage, before handing over to Brodie, Brass Monkeys and Beyond Reason. The carnival committee provided food, beer and Pimm's throughout the afternoon and evening, and committee chairman Amanda Sergison-Main thanked everyone who worked so hard over the weekend. No carnival would be complete without a procession and this year's offering certainly didn't disappoint. The procession was the biggest yet with more than 600 people taking part, according to an organiser. For full story and more colourful carnival pictures, see this week's Farnham Herald.
