A PENSIONER whose tricycle was stolen from outside his home is now auctioning a new tricycle for the Phyllis Tuckwell – days after seeing his original tricycle returned.

David Parry’s blue Mission tricycle was returned last Friday after his carer Emma, of Your Life Matters Elderly Care, received a tip-off it was abandoned at Aldershot railway station.

In a video posted by Emma online – which has now been viewed more than 7,100 times – David paid thanks to his carer for her assistance in finding the tricycle.

He said: “It is very nice to have it back and I am very grateful to so many people in Farnham who’ve responded magnificently to the appeal from Emma on her Facebook page.”

Returned by a friend of Emma’s, David had also ordered a new electric tricycle, and customers at The Hop Blossom pub had bought a new one.

As previously reported in the Herald, David said that while he wasn’t prepared to accept the tricycle from the pub, he would instead put it up for auction, with all proceeds going to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.

On social media page Farnham Rants, Emma has launched an auction for the tricycle bought by The Hop Blossom pub customers.

The 24-inch Cargo tricycle comes with a basket and digit lock, with mobile-bike company Benchmark Bikes offering to build and deliver to the winner – with bidding set to close at 6pm on Sunday.

Tony Carpenter, director of marketing and communications at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care, said: “We would like to send our very grateful thanks to David, for generously auctioning the trike to raise money for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care, and to Emma Hobbs for kindly organising this.

“We would also like to thank everyone involved with this, including those at The Hop Blossom pub, and everyone who donated money or shared the social media posts. It truly shows what a wonderful community we have!”
