MIDHURST Rother College careers fair saw more than 50 companies and educational establishments visit the school.
A Rolls-Royce Dawn motor car was again centre stage, flanked for part of the evening by two members of the Household Cavalry in full ceremonial dress (pictured).
New exhibitors this year included the Royal Veterinary College, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Q Hair and Beauty and financial consultancy EY, formerly known as Ernst and Young.
Hospitality students, who used the event to complete one of their assignments, welcomed exhibitors and visitors. A recruitment professional from Profiles Personnel said: “The students are polite, courteous and professional in their manner, we can’t believe they are only in year 10.
“They have demonstrated key skills that will help them secure employment in the future.”
This year saw the addition of a performance area, which gave current students the opportunity to perform alongside up and coming professional musicians from the Academy of Contemporary Music and the British and Irish Modern Music academy.
Megan Lara Rae, a singer/songwriter currently studying at ACM, said: “The performing students have such a professional attitude and the technical ability of the stage crew is impressive.
“I hope they continue to follow a path in the music industry, we need to encourage young talent like this.”
Some ex-students returned representing the NHS, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, Royal Veterinary College and Rolls-Royce Motors Cars. Former headboy George Stringer, now an NHS apprentice, led a presentation helping to raise the profile of the training scheme and the opportunities they offer.
MRC careers co-ordinator Gill Welsman said: “It’s lovely to see students return to the college to support this event. As recent students here they are able to engage and support students in a way that they can really relate to their first-hand advice is always well-received.
“Current students respond well to seeing their peers thrive in their chosen pathway and enjoy the opportunity to discuss possible options for their future.”
