A WOMAN who died in a collision on the A287, in Frensham, has been named as 79-year-old Anne Parsons, from Hindhead, a devoted grandmother and keen tennis player.

Anne, known as ‘Lindy’, was born in Kenya. She studied nursing in the UK but returned to Kenya where her daughter Jackie was born.

She moved back to the UK 40 years ago and had lived in Hindhead for 31 years.

Lindy was a keen tennis player and had a wide circle of friends. She was also very involved with her nine-year-old twin grandchildren and was described by her son-in-law Martin Anderson as a “very hands-on grandmother, whom we used to see most weeks”.

He added: “She was forever beating people a lot younger than her at tennis, she was very fit.

“My wife always described her as a 79-year-old in a 60-year-old body.

“She was one of those people who was very selfless, always thinking of other people and what she could do for them and how she could help.

“She’s left a huge hole in our lives.”

The accident happened on March 25, when the Mazda Lindy was driving was involved in a collision with a Land Rover at the junction of Fifield Lane and Kennel Lane, at around 6pm.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
