GRANTS of up to £10,000 to help community groups reduce their fuel bills are available thanks to Action Surrey, Thameswey Ltd and the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

Not-for-profit organisations such as charities, community centres or parish councils can use the grants to reduce their environmental impact and make their buildings more comfortable to meet in.

The grants can be used for energy-saving improvements such as low energy lighting, insulation, heating systems and renewable technologies. This is part of Action Surrey’s quest to inspire local action towards reducing our environmental impact.

Energy surveys funding up to the value of £500 are also being offered to help groups to decide which improvements would benefit them the most.

Action Surrey works with local councils to help homeowners, community organisations and businesses save money on their energy bills, keep warm and reduce their environmental impact.

The deadline for application is Monday, February 29, or until the funding pot is allocated. For more information on how to apply go to www.actionsurrey.org/grants/community-building-fund to download an application form and scheme guidance.
