A TURKISH takeaway in Grayshott was extensively damaged by fire last Friday after the chip pan caught alight.

The whole of the ground floor of the Kapadokya at 2 Crossways Road was damaged by the fire, which broke out at the gas cooker at approximately 12-25 pm before spreading to the dustbin and ducting vent.

The scene was attended by two water tender vehicles from Grayshott, a water tender ladder from Liphook and two sets of breathing apparatus were used.

Gas and electricity supplies were isolated and a thermal imaging camera was used to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

Local businessman Perry Leete from Peter Leete and Partners was witness to the fire.

"I saw the fire engines arrive and there was lots of smoke coming out of the front of the takeaway and spreading into the flat above and out of the roof," he said.
