GRAYSHOTT Cub Scouts beat off stiff competition in a 10-team contest to win Haslemere District’s 2017 Muir Trophy.

Pack members George Duff, Alfred Sabourn, Henry Bahaire, alina Le Mare, Hattie Closier and Amelia Fairs are pictured with their award.

Launched in 1926 and first won by the pack based at Amesbury School, the only missed years were during WWII.

Covering an area of around four miles, teams had to visit six bases in turn and do problem solving and teamwork challenges .

The bases were manned by leaders, and points were awarded not only for success, but also for teamwork, efficiency and morale.

Teams arrived back at the Chiddingfold Cricket Pavilion at 3.30pm for drinks and cakes provided by parents, and the presentation ceremony.
