NOTICE will be served to terminate the grazing licence on land at Windmill Hill, currently held by jailed horse breeder Tom Price.

In business as Glamorgan Horse Traders, the Welsh gypsy horse dealer was found guilty on June 14 by Cardiff magistrates of causing unnecessary suffering and failing to meet the needs of 27 horses.

Three weeks later, on July 5, Thomas (Tom) Tony Price, 49, of Wick, in the Vale of Glamorgan, was given a 26-week prison sentence on 57 counts of animal cruelty and banned from keeping horses for five years.

His two sons were also found guilty of cruelty. Thomas Hope Price, 26, was given a 23-week prison sentence after pleading guilty to 42 charges and was banned from keeping horses for five years, and Tony John Price, 19, was given a 12-month community order and banned from keeping horses for 12 months.

The sentencing served to further inflame rising public alarm over the welfare of coloured gypsy horses, owned by the Price family and grazed in fields in the Alton area, often in large numbers and with insufficient grass.
