A GOVERNMENT planning inspector has given the green light for a controversial car park in the town, despite strong opposition from neighbours and ecologists.

The appeal was allowed after East Hampshire District Council refused permission to turn the paddock on land south west of 32 Borough Road, Petersfield, into a residents' car park.
