WEYDON School has been given the green light to begin a major expansion that will see a 20 per cent increase in its student population, from 1,200 children to more than 1,500 children within three years.
The secondary school, consistently one of the top performing schools in the country, has received planning permission by Surrey County Council to build a new access from Greenfield Road, 45 new classrooms, all weather sports facilities and more.
Weydon's application has attracted opposition from some nearby residents who fear for a loss of residential amenity as a result of the expansion, and specifically the new access and provision for 41 extra car parking spaces.
