MEMBERS of Farnham’s Amnesty International group have said another big thank you to the Shepherd and Flock pub for hosting their latest meet up.

The group has visited the pub every January for a number of years to participate in Amnesty’s worldwide Write for Rights event.

Former chairwoman Pauline Lalor said: “The pub always gives us a warm welcome, we nearly always have the same table. It’s great we’ve kept it going here, even though we’ve merged with the Guildford group for our monthly meetings. We really appreciate the Shepherd and Flock’s support.”

Write for Rights is an annual activity to encourage and support human rights defenders around the world.

Last year more than five million letters, cards, e-mails and social media posts were sent by the seasonal campaign’s participants in 208 countries.

“The people we send cards to are truly inspirational. They risk their own liberty, and sometimes their lives, to protect others. We know from previous years just how much they value the cards and accompanying actions.” Pauline added.

The group meets at St Nicolas’ Community Centre, Guildford, at 7.30pm on the second Monday of every month.
