PHYLLIS Tuckwell held a royal-tea party at the hospice in Farnham to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Patients, families, staff and volunteers all joined in with the royal theme, with flags, bunting and crowns in abundance. Sandwiches, cakes and of course, cups of tea were enjoyed by all those who came along to celebrate the special occasion.

Phyllis Tuckwell holds a Tea@3 party at the hospice every year and encourages its supporters to do the same at home, gathering together family, friends and neighbours to enjoy tea and cakes, whilst contributing a small donation.

This year’s royal festivities gave the charity the perfect opportunity to give their fundraising a stately twist, becoming Royal-Tea@3.

The money raised by Tea@3 celebrations is hugely important to Phyllis Tuckwell. Every day the charity supports more than 250 patients, relatives and carers but as the NHS/Government only covers 20 per cent of its costs, it has to raise more than £20,000 a day to do this.

The support of the local community, who help by organising fundraising events such as Tea@3, helps greatly towards meeting this fundraising target.
