THE standard was as high as ever when the judges met to decide the winners of the best floats in the procession at Saturday’s renewal of the Liphook Carnival.
After much deliberation, Liphook Guides sailed off with the Challenge Cup for the best overall entry and the Best Illuminated thanks to the stunning pale blue neon light effects.
The John Carver Cup was awarded for the first time to the Best Newcomer and went to Liphook Day Centre for their VE Day Celebrations.

Pubs & Clubs: 1) The Deer’s Hut – Ben & Hollies Little Kingdom; 2) Liphook Social Club – Star Wars
Adult Floats: 1) Phill & Friends – Scarecrows; 2) Liphook Twins – Zoo
Adults Push ’n’ Pull: 1) Motley Crew – Peter Pan; 2) Liphook Day Centre – VE Day Celebrations; 3) LiDBA Celebration Cake; 4) Bedknobs & Broomsticks.
Best Steam: Hollycombe Steam – Mary Poppins & Rooftops of London.
