MICHELLE Renée hair salon in Elstead has raised almost £1,000 toward St James Primary School's School Building Fund with a 'Decades of Hair' event.

Stylists dressed up in retro outfits, the salon displayed memorabilia from the 1940s to the 1980s, Champagne flowed and cupcakes were enjoyed by all.

St James' pupils also created pictures of vintage hair styles to decorate the front window and a raffle raised £900 toward the school's efforts to find £30,000 for a new school building.

Michelle Norris, owner of Michelle Renée, said: "I am overwhelmed by the support of the local community, and would like to extend a huge thank you to all the local businesses, friends and family.

"But most of all I am very proud of the team at Michelle Renée and the staggering amount raised for St James Primary School."
