PetersfieldÕs Festival Hall will get a £20,000 overhaul of its sound system that will benefit all users of the hall.
Improvements will include a new mixing desk, microphones and loud speakers to replace existing equipment that is 15 years old.
Petersfield Town Council, which owns the hall, has set aside money over the last four years to upgrade facilities to ensure it can continue to meet the demands of users, including the Winton Players and Hi-lights.
The plan was put together by the ÔGreen A TeamÕ, who provide sound and lighting for many of the productions put on in the hall.
Simon Auty, president of the team, told the councilÕs public halls committee earlier this month that the proposals had been sparked by a complaint from the Winton Players several years ago.
This prompted the councilÕs public halls committee to earmark £5,000 a year for an overhaul to be carried out, and the council now has the £20,000 needed to buy new equipment.
The ÔGreen A TeamÕ will write the specifications for the upgrade, at no cost to the council, and a working party will be set up to oversee the work.
The team believe that the improvements will mean that existing hirers will be retained and the hall will become more attractive to prospective users.
Along with a new mixing desk and sound system, improvements will be made to the T-loop hearing aid
system.
