Police targeting drink and drug drivers during a week of action to make roads safer made 139 arrests.

The joint operations roads policing unit of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and Thames Valley Police implemented the crackdown from August 21 to 27 as part of a National Police Chiefs’ Council campaign.

In Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight, there were 30 drink-driving and 22 drug-driving arrests. In the Thames Valley area the figures were 41 and 46 respectively.
