THE Bourne WI has found a novel use for their unwanted underwear after taking on the WI’s Sustainable Gardening Hanging ‘Brasket’ Competition.

To continue the WI’s recycling, re-using and re-purposing mantra into its second centennial, the institute has developed a new, sustainable gardening project with the support of Sutton Seeds.

Due to their shape, bras are ideal as hanging ‘braskets’. WIs across the country were invited to use their imagination and have some fun at re-using bras as hanging basket containers.

So, The Bourne WI took on this challenge with gusto and great fun was had by all.

A spokesman for the group said: “We were amazed at how many plants we were able to fit into one bra. You wouldn’t think from our clothes that it was a summer’s evening! However the wine and nibbles soon warmed us up.”
