HANNAH Chenneour, 17, of Farnham & Aldershot Fencing Club, fought her way through to become the U/18 English Girls' Youth Champion in epee last weekend.
Epee is one of the disciplines of fencing, a sport fast growing in popularity, especially after featuring in the latest James Bond film.
Hannah travelled to Durham to fight against some of the best young fencers in the country. By the end of the first round, she had achieved a strong second place.
After some hard-fought battles in the direct elimination rounds, she finally met the number one seed, Louisa Brownlee, in the finals.
Fencing very strongly, Hannah dominated the fight to record a very convincing 15-10 victory.
The former Weydon pupil, who took up epee four years ago, has started a fencing club at Guildford High School which competed in last year's public schools champoionships. She trains both at Farnham Sports Centre, which runs classes for both adult and junior fencers, and with coach Steve Davy at her club.
Hannah is sponsored by Solomon's Seal kitchen designers of Odiham, and Blades of Esher.
