THE sun shone brightly as All Hallows Catholic School's year 11 students opened their brown envelopes to find dazzling results.

In a year when national performance fell slightly, the All Hallows students produced record results with 89 per cent achieving five or more A* to C GCSE grades.

Taking the Government's favoured benchmark, five or more top passes including English and maths, the figure was 83 per cent, compared to the national average of 69 per cent.
