THIS summer will see the launch of a new event from a district running club.
Hart Road Runners will launch ‘Hart 4’ with the inaugural event taking place on Sunday, August 14.
The Fleet-based club is hosting the event at Minley Woods, just off the M3, and will have three team categories – male, female and mixed.
Hart 4 is a relay event in which teams of four runners will take turns completing as many laps of a four-kilometre loop as possible in just four hours.
Organising team member Andy Danson said: “This is a really exciting new running event for the local area. There are very few events in this format taking place so we are pleased to be able to offer local runners and running clubs a fresh new challenge.”
With the lesser-seen relay style event taking place in the middle of the school holidays, any runners signing up for the race are being encouraged to bring their families with them to enjoy a summer day in the Hampshire countryside.
Event organisers say that any picnics will also be welcome, while there will also be Hometown Caterers on site to offer a range of award-winning food as well as hot and cold drinks.
The club which was founded more than 30 years ago is currently home to over 180 members and boasts many links to the area. This includes the prizes for race winners, which will be provided by the Bartley Heath Pottery and Wokingham-based microbrewery Elusive Brewing.
The running group is open to people throughout Hart and its aim is to promote amateur road and cross country running in a social and supportive environment.
