HART Rotary has provided £1,000 to help sponsor disabled students in their flight training.

Rotarian Dick Harris was recently invited to present three students with certificates recording their success in completing Aerobility’s Junior Aspiring Pilot programme.

Together with Tony Spencer, the Mayor of Yateley, Dick was able to talk with the students in their training room and was even able to join them, as a passenger, in the flight simulator.

Aerobility is a registered charity, based at Blackbushe Airport, which uses the challenges of flight and exposure to aviation experience as a tool for improving the lives of those with a disability.

Whatever the age and whatever the impairment, Aerobility gives everyone the chance to fly and participate in aviation-orientated activities.

The charity operates specially adapted aircraft and supporting equipment, and offers specialist instruction to ensure access for all.

It also acts as a representative body for disabled aviators, and works with regulators and the aerospace industry to promote access and awareness.

It provides “experience of a lifetime” lessons for both individuals and groups and specialised flying training, leading to pilot licence issue where possible, along with adapted aircraft hire for disabled licence holders.
