HASLEMERE Swimming Club dominated the third round relay gala of the Rother League on Saturday, recording a huge total of 41 wins out of the night's 50 events and scoring 285 points out of a possible 300.
Of the remaining nine events, they were never placed lower than third.
The strength in depth of the squad was the key to this superb performance. Every age group was totally focussed and relentlessly ground out each win.
Particular credit should go to the Under-14 girls – Emily Frost, Samantha Wheller, Rosanna Dwyer, Katie Philo and Bryony Dunne – who won all the races in their section, and U/14 boys Charlie Winter, Alwyn Poulter, David Short and Warrick Schmitt who also had a clean sweep.
All the races were relays, apart from two U/14 individual medley events, which were swum by Bryony Dunne and Matthew Hall. Both won convincingly and received trophies on behalf of the club.
And the efforts of the more senior swimmers did not go unnoticed. Daniel Wilks clocked a scorching time of 29.67secs in his 50m butterfly, while team-mate Joshua Harvey recorded 30-85.
Josh Wreford and Tom Kennedy won every double relay for the U/12s except for the breaststroke.
Haslemere hope to continue their success in the final Rother League round at Bognor Regis in September. They are firmly in the driving seat for winning the league.
