Lisa O’Sullivan, Haslemere Town Council’s Town Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer, has been appointed Town Clerk and CEO at Farnham Town Council.

Her departure has prompted an emotional farewell from Haslemere, with Mayor Jacquie Keen saying: “It’s very sad, obviously Farnham are getting our incredible clerk, but we are all very happy for her.

“I think she’s the most experienced and knowledgeable clerk anywhere in the country. Everybody in Haslemere knows her and she really works for the community. Anyone can speak to her and get advice on grants or anything. She has helped develop not just the town council but Haslemere itself.”

Councillor Keen said Lisa’s accessibility had been one of her greatest strengths, with residents able to approach her for help and advice.

“I’ve known Lisa for the entire time I’ve been on the council and we are all really going to miss her,” she added.

Lisa has played a key role in the development of Haslemere Town Council during her 16 years in the role, helping establish it as a proactive and community-focused authority.

The council thanked her for her “exceptional contribution”, as well as the skill, commitment and good humour she has brought to her work.

Lisa said: “It has been a privilege to serve Haslemere Town Council and the community for the past 16 years.

“I am proud of what we have achieved together and grateful to have worked alongside such dedicated councillors, colleagues, volunteers and partners.

“I am excited to be taking on this new role at Farnham Town Council and I wish Haslemere every success for the future.”

While Lisa’s move represents a significant loss for Haslemere, it also marks the start of a new chapter for one of the town’s most familiar and respected figures.

And while Farnham may be gaining an experienced new leader, Haslemere is preparing to say goodbye to a town clerk who has spent 16 years helping shape its future.
