FRIENDS gathered at West Street Cemetery to remember Britain’s first ever Formula One world champion and Farnham ‘legend’, Mike Hawthorn; the event marked 58 years since his death in January 1959.

Those in attendance to remember the much-loved racer, who died in a high-speed crash on the Guildford bypass, included Nigel Bell, John Newman, Tim Ely and former girlfriend, Dorrie Parker.

His death came only months after he won the F1 title racing for Scuderia Ferrari at the Moroccan Grand Prix.
