FRENSHAM Road was temporarily blocked on Sunday morning after a trailer spilled its load of hay bales at the junction with Bacon Lane.

The hay bales, which weigh around half a tonne each, fortunately avoided hitting any passing motorists and no one was reportedly injured in the incident.

David Wright, who lives nearby, said: "I went to drive out at about 10.30am on Sunday and the road was all blocked. A lad looked on bemused as I presume his father was already moving bales with a fork lift tractor.

"Locals gathered to watch the show and cars soon formed a jam, but it was quickly eased as the bales were re-stacked. By the time I returned from buying a paper at about 11.30am it was nearly all cleared."
