A FAMILIAR face to customers of Argos in West Street, Hayley Barratt, is gearing up to run the London Marathon later this month in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Hayley, 42, and will tackle the famous 26.2 miles on April 23 in memory of her beloved step-dad Ralph Palombo who died of cancer at the age of 67 in May 2015, the day before he was due to meet his Macmillan nurse.

Hayley has worked at the Farnham branch of Argos for the past 10 years, and is raising money in store as well as online uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Hayley

She said: “I’ve wanted to do something like this ever since my step-dad passed away, and have seen Macmillan give wonderful help to colleagues and customers over the years so they were the obvious charity to support.

“The training’s going OK and I completed my first 20-mile run last weekend, but I’ve never done anything like this before and I’m not even a jogger usually. It may take me six hours to complete, but if it comes to it I’ll just power walk it!”
