YOUNGSTERS at a Petersfield school have been given a history lesson with a difference by a Second World War veteran.

Herne Junior School headteacher Tony Markham didn't have to look far when lining up a speaker for children in year four.

He enlisted his own dad, Alf Markham, to speak to more than 100 youngsters about his war experiences in three different continents.

The 92-year-old from Skipton, North Yorkshire, leaped at the chance to talk about his life in the RAF.
