PUPILS taping their teachers to the wall should have caused mayhem at Wootey infant and junior schools in Alton, with the youngsters facing a severe telling off, but instead it provided a lot of laughs and more than £200 for parent teacher association coffers.
The event was organised by Terri Lamey and Kelly Davies, joint chairman of the parent teacher association, and added some serious mirth to a fundraising cake sale.
Held in the infant school hall, pupils could buy a small length of duct tape for 20p or a bigger piece for 50p and use it to tape infant school head Ella Palmer and junior school head Tim O’Brien to the wall.
“It was hilarious,” said Mrs Palmer, “and the children saved up their money so they could buy lots of tape.
“Both Tim and I had to stand on a bench and when we had enough tape wrapped around us the children removed the bench and we were there suspended a foot or two off the floor.
“We were there for some time as the tape proved to be very strong, but it did help to raise quite a lot of the money.
“We are very grateful to the parent teacher association and also to those who made the cakes.”
There were also thanks to Bourne Estate Agents, who sponsored some of the school’s fun fundraising events.
