MORE NHS staff have now moved into Bordon’s Chase Community Hospital.
The NHS Southern Health Foundation Trust, the main provider of community services in Hampshire, has moved more of its staff into the hospital from the nearby Elizabeth Dibben Centre (for mental health), in Pinehill Road, Bordon.
These recent moves see all Southern Health’s services located under one roof at the Chase Community Hospital.
The services that have moved include:
* The adult mental health team - support for adults aged 18 to 65 in the community who are experiencing mental illnesses, with weekly mental-health clinics.
* Older people’s mental health services - assessment, treatment and support for older people with mental illnesses, with clinics two days a week.
* iTalk psychological therapies clinics (recently relocated from the Elizabeth Dibben centre) - support for people with depression and anxiety, with access to various treatment options including one-to-one clinics, groups, workshops, and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) training.
Gethin Hughes, director of integrated services for the Southern Health Foundation Trust, said: “We are pleased that our mental health teams have moved into Chase Community Hospital, joining other Southern Health Foundation Trust teams already based there.
“This relocation is significant for Southern Health’s strategy to provide care in a more joined-up way, by making the Chase Hospital a hub for our services in Whitehill and Bordon.
“The hospital has the facilities and environment suitable for our staff to continue delivering quality mental and physical healthcare to people using our services.
“It’s easy to get to via public transport, offers free parking on site, and is such a familiar healthcare site for the population of Whitehill and Bordon.”
The move has been welcomed by Dr Barbara Rushton, chairman of the NHS South Eastern Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group, which commissions health services for the area.
She said: “It has been our intention for some time to increase the footfall into the Chase and to increase the number and range of services available at the site.
“It’s also been a long-term ambition, now finally realised, to work with our colleagues at Southern to welcome all of their mental health teams to the site.
“Chase remains very much at the centre of our planning for local health provision. ”
From the Chase, the Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust also runs physiotherapy, occupational therapy and podiatry services, and is a hub for health visitors and district nurses.
