SOUTH West Surrey Community Health Council chairman Jean Mansley sought to allay local residents' fears this week over huge cuts proposed by West Surrey and North & Mid Hampshire Health Authorities to save £30 million over the next three years.
One possible step which could be taken is the closure of the accident and emergency department at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, although Mrs Mansley said this is the "last and least acceptable" step which would be taken.
