WAVERLEY Borough Council is encouraging voluntary organisations to bid for grants for funding for health and well-being activities for the coming year.
A total of £85,540 is available from the Waverley Voluntary Partnership, jointly provided by Waverley Borough Council and Surrey County Council.
Examples of this year’s schemes are a cafe for people with mental health problems, activity groups for people living with dementia, transport for older people to get to community activities and a stroke recovery group.
The deadline to submit an application is 5pm on Monday, January 25, 2016.
Stefan Reynolds, portfolio holder for communications and grants at Waverley, said: “Voluntary schemes make a vital contribution to health and well being across the borough.
“They provide great value for money, opportunities for people to volunteer and make a real difference at local level.
“I hope there will be some new schemes coming forward this year as well as opportunities to continue to support those that have been successful this year.”
Waverley Council welcomes grant applications from voluntary, community and faith groups and has published information and advice about the funding process on its website www.waverley.gov.uk/grants.
