CUTTING-edge virtual-reality technology has gone down a treat at RMBI Shannon Court care home in Hindhead.

Residents have marvelled at being able to travel the world, see the Northern Lights and go on safari, from the comfort of their armchairs.

The home uses the virtual-reality headsets as a beneficial tool to help reminiscence and to prompt conversations between carers and residents.

The activities co-ordinator at Shannon Court, Sam Geddes, said: “Our residents loved using the virtual-reality technology headsets so much, we are introducing it into our weekly routine.

“It has proved to be a wonderful sensory experience for everyone, triggering some happy memories and prompting lots of lively conversation.”
