LONG-serving staff at Chestnut View Care Home were honoured for their dedication as part of national celebrations to mark Dignity in Action Day last Thursday.
The residential home in Haslemere’s Wey Hill has joined the Dignity in Care campaign, which aims to put dignity and respect at the heart of UK care services.
The campaign now has more than 80,000 registered Dignity Champions, working to ensure people have a good experience of care when they need it. They include councillors, NHS and social care staff, volunteers, service users and carers.
Chestnut View residents were joined by friends and family for a musical entertainment and special tea on the day, and five staff members were presented with long service awards.
Those honoured included: Anna Pocock, who has been team leader for 15 years; Godwin Chinonzo, who has worked as night care assistant for 10 years supporting the dementia and nursing unit; Denise Mensah, who has been a support worker for 10 years on the dementia site; Dorota Krupinska, who has been a care assistant on the nursing and dementia unit and deputy chef for 10 years; Vanessa Hammond, who joined Chestnut View owner St Cloud Care in October 1987 and has worked as a housekeeper for more than 30 years.
Care home manager Sylwia Indycka said: “I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to attend our party to celebrate Dignity in Action Day, combined with long service staff awards,”
“Here at Chestnut View, we are commitment as a team, to make every effort to be respectful and treat our residents their families and each other with dignity every day.
“It is only with this commitment, that together we can deliver care in a more respectful way, which ultimately results, in good outcomes for everyone.
“I am very proud of all my team, but we wanted to give special recognition to five team members with a special award for their long service.
“Presenting long service awards demonstrates not only the commitment of the staff, but that our home is a great place to live and work in. I am extremely proud of our staff.
“With more experience and guidance, staff at all levels gets to know the residents as individuals and provide personalised care for them.”
