THE Royal Surrey County Hospital is holding a free patient support group for glaucoma and ccular hypertension sufferers. Organised in conjunction with the International Glaucoma Association, it will take place in the trust’s Post Graduate Education Centre in May,

It will explore alternative options for treating glaucoma and high eye pressure, including laser therapy and surgical techniques.

Dan Lindfield, consultant ophthalmologist and glaucoma lead, said: “The feedback we received from patients who attended our first support group was fantastic.

‘This will be a deliberately informal and friendly event to help patients feel comfortable to ask questions, however minor. I am also trying to create a supportive group who communicate amongst themselves outside of these meetings, to discuss issues with and hold regular meetings with.”

Mr Lindfield is asking patients to contact him beforehand with suggestions for possible topics. For more information about the support group or to book a place at the event on Tuesday, May 31, (2-3.30pm), call 01483 571122 ext. 2089 or email [email protected]
